Enamel Coating
Enamel Coating for show bikes ...that never discolors? Yes, it’s really true!
Note: When you read that sentence carefully Enamel Coating is only recommended for show bikes. Enamel really does not discolor but it does have disadvantages caused primarily by changes in weather/temperature conditions, i.e. extreme temperature differences found at the front down pipes.
To cut a long story short: We cannot offer any form of guarantee with this type of coating.
If an exhaust system is to be taken into everyday use then we recommend the more economical Ceramic Coating. It is somewhat more susceptible to mechanical damage, (scratches, etc.) but if treated carefully you’ll have great pleasure from it.
Exhaust coatings, no matter what type, do not last "for ever."
Some facts regarding the Enamel Coating:
Using a special process, (a company secret) the system is coated with enamel and then heated to 900° C where it is thermally bonded to the metal. This results in a gloss black surface.
A matt black finish is also available. To produce this a second matt layer is subsequently coated on to the first enamel surface.
